My "Atlanta" Flat.

Many moons ago I owned a flat in the Strand. I was a neat small bachelor unit. The only reason I got rid of it was because of the high monthly levy. The flat was only 28 square meters but the layout was just perfect!

Photos of the Atlanta flat when it was built!

Myself and my neighbor, Elize, mentioned during building... It's as small as a single garage!

Once we moved in... a real surprise! The flat was perfect!

It was sad about the levy... Finally both me and Elize had to sell after a few months.

I lived in many places after that, but that little flat was just the best.

MY ATLANTA FLAT IN THE MAKING!

Here at home we have this larger than normal single garage... Not quite as big as 28 squares, but close enough to recreate such a flat!

Currently I live in the small servant room with half bathroom. It is big enough for but a wee bit small... The problem I have is the room is next to a busy workshop and its real noisy and apart from that I have no privacy. I am constantly bothered by workshop customers!

In that garage, I just hoarded up stuff over years! After some negotiation with the family, the approve of me creating my "Atlanta" flat!

The first problem my hoarding! I payed a guy... and he rolled 4 tonnes of crap out of there!

And finally I could see the floor!

At this point I could get in with the tape measure and work out my floor plan!
From the measurement of the flat... it is 22.78 or almost 23 square meter. The Atlanta flat was 28 squares... meaning only 600 mm more narrow on the same length. I can live with that!

My flat in Atlanta had only one door. Since there is a little alley behind the building, this gives an opportunity to build in a rear door! That will be real neat for airflow and light!

I had to get in a builder to break out the hole... Once the hole was there I could on my own time build in the door!

It took me 4 days do build in the rear door... The hardest part was working with the old stone wall. The oldest part of our house dates 1860 and I suppose those old stone wall dated more or less from the same time.

My rear door built in!

The next step is the front door and window. The garage door tracks is all messed up and a few years ago the door almost fell on a car! Since then, the space was never used... other that accumulating crap!

For the front, I'll use the builder to build in the front. I build a bit slow but cant plaster for a neat finish....
The following photo is edited to show the idea of the door and window.
The photo above is the current view of the building.

To be continued...
